Meet Andy Porter

I Know What It Feels Like to Take on a Bigger Leadership Role - It's Hard Work!

I am a leadership coach and former C-level executive with a passion for supporting leaders who have taken on broader, more complex roles. With my extensive experience in human resources, company building, and leadership development, I bring a unique blend of expertise and insight to my coaching practice.

Over the course of my career spanning more than 25 years, I have worked at the center of biotech and academic innovation. I have played a pivotal role in shaping organizational cultures and fostering a strong sense of purpose and direction for several organizations. My emphasis on culture creation and employee empowerment has resulted in high employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention rates. This has created a positive work environment that fuels innovation and productivity. I am proud to have earned industry recognition for these organizations as top places to work.

I have held senior leadership positions in various organizations. Most recently, I was the Chief Administrative Officer for Relay Tx, where I played a crucial role in developing HR strategies and guiding the company’s growth. As the Chief People Officer for the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, I focused on fostering a culture of innovation and developing the next generation of scientific leaders. Additionally, my tenure as the Vice President of HR and Organizational Development at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals showcased my ability to drive strategic initiatives and cultivate high-performing teams.

One of my key strengths lies in my deep understanding of the challenges faced by leaders, as I have occupied leadership roles myself. This firsthand experience, coupled with my expertise in coaching, allows me to provide invaluable guidance and support to leaders seeking to navigate the complexities of their roles. I am committed to developing leaders, evident through my training as a leadership coach at the Co-Active Training Institute and my track record of supporting the development of hundreds of professionals throughout my career.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and two daughters. I also embrace physical and mental challenges by participating in ultramarathons, demonstrating my resilience and determination to continually push my boundaries.
